Explore Long Island's back bays when the tide is right.
The back bays stretch for miles behind the barrier islands of Long Island — tidal marsh channels, open water flats, and wild grass as far as you can see. It's one of the most beautiful and underrated stretches of water on the East Coast. Most people drive right past it every summer without ever getting out there.
The High Tide Marsh Tour is different because of when it runs. At high tide, the marsh channels open up. Water pushes in from the bay, flooding passages that are barely there at low tide. You can ride deeper into the marsh, access areas you can't reach any other way, and see the whole ecosystem in a completely different light.
Our guide knows these tides and these routes. 90 minutes of marsh channels, open bay, and scenery that will genuinely surprise you. No experience required — just show up and ride.
At low tide, large portions of the back bay marshland become too shallow to ride. High tide pushes water into the channels and flats — that's when this tour is possible, and that's when it's worth doing. We schedule departures around the tide, not the clock.
Departure times shift daily with the tide. We schedule each tour window to make sure you're on the water when the marsh is at its best — not just when it's convenient on a calendar. High tide times vary throughout the season.

"Such a good experience! Tim and George were great instructors, very thorough and patient. They made sure everyone was safe and didn't get lost out there. You get to travel out pretty far and spend a LOT of time on the water. I would absolutely do this again, highly recommend!"
"I just went here for my birthday and our guide Damon is amazing! He made the instructions clear and simple so we can have fun. 10/10 experience!! The owner and his son were very kind and helpful. It was my first time in Freeport and would love to return again."
